I am new to Yoga, where should I start? If you are new to yoga, a great place to start is with our "Slow Flow" classes, as the slower paced sequences, and longer holds help students to focus on learning the basics of alignment for each pose. Newbies are always welcome to attend any of the All Levels classes, as well though! While they are a bit faster paced, our instructors will provide, alignment cues, modifications and variations and encourage everyone to work at their own level. What can I expect in my first class? You can expect to move, breathe, sweat and have fun! Your first few classes may feel especially challenging as you begin to learn the poses, adjust to the heat, and find your breath. Just remember to always work at your own pace. It's okay to take a break at any time that you need to, Rest as long as necessary, then join the class again when you feel better.
What should I bring? Due to covid-19 we do not have mat rental or towel rental available at this time. Please bring your own yoga mat, towel and water bottle. Prop (blocks & straps) are optional and you may bring your own if you'd like. We do have yoga mats and yoga towels available for purchase in the studio with a price range of $20-$40. It can also be helpful to have a full size yoga towel or bath towel to lay over your mat to prevent slipping.
What should I wear? Each class is held in a heated room, so you will sweat! Dress lightly in comfortable clothes that allow you to move and stretch. It is also a good idea to bring a dry change of clothing for after class. We have a bathroom and changing rooms available, but no showers. In adherence with the City of Milwaukee mandage, masks are currently required at all times. We recommend trying out a few different brands and options to find the most comfortable fit and best breathability for practicing hot yoga in. Remember to Hydrate! Make sure to drink water before and during class to stay well hydrated. While you are sweating out toxins and impurities from your body, you are also losing electrolytes, we recommend drinking an Electrolyte replacer, such as Vitamin Water or Emergen-C after class.
